OUR CHRISTIAN SCHOOL BELIEFS

Impacting Students for Christ

Philosophy Statement

Scofield Christian School has a primary mission to impact students for Christ, so they will, in turn, impact their homes, churches, and communities. Our goal is to equip academically prepared, biblically literate students to take their place in today's changing society. We believe in the inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible. As God's Word, we believe it to be true and trustworthy; therefore, we believe that it deserves a place in education and in the classroom, regardless of the subject matter taught. It is also an infallible guide to righteous, ethical, and moral judgments.

Based upon the fact that human beings bear the image of God, we are dedicated to the proposition that every student is worthy of individual time, effort and prayer to the end that each one becomes a mature Christian and responsible citizen. Each student is encouraged to respond to God's invitation to receive personal salvation by faith in Jesus Christ and is encouraged to develop biblical convictions with respect to every aspect of life.

We believe it is desirable that the student body should contain a cross-section of society racially, socially, and economically; and that it should be limited in size so that a sense of community can be established and maintained. We further believe that the school should be of special service to parents who share our concern for each person's relationship with God.

We believe that our curriculum should be governed largely by the word "excellence." Consequently, we have chosen to be accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and comply with its standards in regard to curriculum, student assessment, and promotion. We welcome the evaluation of our staff and academic program in order to ensure the excellence of our Christian instructional environment.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant, verbally inspired Word of God and that it is, therefore, our final authority in matters of faith and practice. -- 2 Timothy 3:16; Psalms 119:8

  • We believe in the eternally existing, triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. -- Genesis 1:1; John 10:30; John 14:20; John 15:26

  • We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, where He now acts as mediator and advocate. -- Matthew 16:16; Luke 1:34-35; Hebrews 4:15; John 5:1-9; 1 Peter 2:24; Luke 24:36-43; Acts 1:9-11

  • We believe in the personal, imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His own, in His later return to glory with His own to reign in righteousness over the earth, and in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection unto damnation. -- Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Hebrews 9:28

  • We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for salvation of lost and sinful mankind and that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again and become the children of God. -- Romans 3:23; John 3:16; Acts 16:31

  • We believe that all believers are spiritually joined together by the Spirit of God and form one body of which Christ is the Head. -- 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 20, 27; Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18
